Santa really is the ultimate Super Hero. Here, he provides the gift of knowledge!
Hero Checklist
Become the hero your community needs – one act, one share, one life changed at a time.
Know Your Superpowers
Remember this:
DTC = Tax relief = RDSP = CDB
Understand the DTC & RDSP
You don’t need to be a financial expert. Just learn the basics:
The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) helps reduce income tax for those with disabilities.
The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) allows families to build long-term savings—with up to $90,000 in government grants and bonds available.
Spot the Signals
Learn to recognize who might benefit
Keep an eye out for:
- Individuals with chronic illnesses (diabetes, MS, mental health, etc.)
- Families with children who receive disability supports
- Seniors caring for adult children or grandchildren with disabilities
- Anyone saying: “I didn’t know I qualified…”

Give Your Gifts
Your time. Your voice. Your compassion.
Every act matters. You are the spark that can light up a future.
You may never see the full impact—but you’ll know you made a difference.
Remember
- The person who may be eligible, often knows nothing about the DTC.
- They are aware but don’t know how to proceed (we do!)
- They don’t know what the best method is to apply.
- They have spoken to their doctor and he/she refuses to fill out the form
- The fee to fill out the form is too high for the patient.
- The form is filled incorrectly and subsequently denied
- The application is delayed or denied altogether. Often, this results in the patient giving up. (We don’t give up!)
- Past denials are not a determinant in re-applying. We often recommend to re-apply within a few months of a denial. In fact new legislation in 2022, make anyone with T1D eligible automatically, even if previously you were deemed ineligible.
- You may not have a family doctor or specialist to sign and certify your condition. (We have partners who will help upon, verifying medical records.
